Announcing the Takimoto Harvest Festival 2019!
Hokkaido summer may be in full swing here in Noboribetsu Onsen, but at Dai-ichi Takimotokan we are already working on some exciting plans for this year’s Takimoto Harvest Festival. From September 1 through October 31, we plan to feature all the fun and delicious treats that autumn has to offer.
Every year our guests enjoy the spectacular buffets that we offer in our dining areas, Genshirin and Yukiguni, that showcase the best of Hokkaido produce. We were so excited for this year that we thought we would share some of our favourites!
Pumpkin Gratin with Silken Tofu
The deep golden of this dish comes from the Hokkaido-grown pumpkin mixed with silken tofu. A pure and refreshing taste of autumn, it warms and brightens the meal.
We are also very pleased to introduce the next three dishes. Clockwise from the back left are:
– Hokkaido Pacific Saury in Saikyo Miso
– Hokkaido Buckwheat Rice with Scallops and Walnuts
– Hokkaido Cod with Spicy Autumn Eggplant
All three of these pair well with sake and include some of our favorite autumn foods.
Originally from Kyoto, Saikyo miso is a subtly sweet, white miso that balances well with the rich taste of Pacific saury. You can also enjoy the pleasant flavour of walnuts which is a perfect companion for the fragrant buckwheat rice. Another seasonal dish is Hokkaido Cod and Spicy Autumn Eggplant. Simmered with chili peppers, this Dutch-style dish comes with a gentle heat and irresistible flavour.
Salt Grilled Hokkaido Salmon
Salmon is the highlight of this season. Grilled in a salt pot, tender and flavourful Hokkaido salmon is simply one of our absolute favourites.
2017 Fleischer Riesling
We are also excited to share with the list of drink pairings we have for the Takimoto Harvest Festival. The first is the 2017 Fleischer Riesling. A white wine with a fruity aroma reminiscent of green apples and citrus, it is a dry and very pleasant wine.
Tamanohikari Junmai Ginjo Hiya-oroshi Sake
Tamanohikari Junmai Ginjo Hiya-oroshi is first brewed in the early spring and wiles away its summer days in cool shadow until the first autumn winds blow and signal it is ready. A unique, dry sake, it is lovely whether served warm or cold.
Kogane no Toumin Shochu
This original style shochu, Kogane no Toumin (Golden Hibernation), is sweet and richly textured. Made from Hokkaido-grown sweet potatoes called Kogane Sengan, it has a soft mellow taste and a slight amber color.
We recommend a limited plan with one drink (or your favorite soft drink).
Pumpkin Milk
Also, in our buffet restaurant, Yunosato, we will feature a liqueur rich in taste with both Hokkaido pumpkin and Hokkaido milk. A limited time cocktail, this sweet drink reminds us a little bit of pudding, but with the warmth of alcohol.
In addition to these limited plans, we also offer a variety of other options for guests to enjoy the regional delicacies in rooms of their choice. Please take a look and see what delights you might find!
Please also note that we offer a Japanese-Western buffet package for guests spending the day in our onsen baths. After a day of luxurious bathing, a taste of autumn in Hokkaido is the perfect ending.
Come join us for the Takimoto Harvest Festival in Noboribetsu Onsen this autumn for delicious sake, shochu, and the best our fields and seas have to offer. We look forward to seeing you here!
