The delicious taste of Autumn at our Hokkaido-Asian fusion buffet
The arrival of cooler Autumn weather and warmer colours in Hokkaido signals it’s time for the Takimotokan Autumn Fair buffet. This year, with COVID-19 limiting overseas travel, we wanted to create a selection of special dishes to give our guests a taste of the wider world.
Thus inspired, we invited our Myanmar and Vietnamese chefs to cook some of their favourite homeland dishes using seasonal Hokkaido produce. The result is seven delicious fusion dishes, that mix fresh Hokkaido ingredients with their exotic cuisine cultures, adding spice, colour, and fresh bursts of flavour to warm your enjoyment of Hokkaido autumn evening.
A tasty example is Spicy Fried Cod – Myanmar style, a blend of fried tomatoes, onions and garlic with bite-sized pieces of fried cod, seasoned with turmeric, nam pla and doubanjiang to give a spicy zest. It is a great complement to Hokkaido Nanatsuboshi rice.
You can taste all seven dishes between now and November 30th at the Takimotokan Autumn Fair buffet. In addition, we have also created special Japanese autumn dishes, and selection of sake, wine, and shochu only available during the Autumn Fair.
