Autumn Rakugo Performance Set for November 16
Here in Noboribetsu Onsen, the first snow has fallen and frost appears each morning here in Hokkaido. We are therefore happy to announce that our Autumn Rakugo schedule is set!
Twice a year, master storytellers from the Japan Onsen Rakugo Caravan stop to visit us and entertain our guests. The tradition of traveling rakugo is a very old one in Japan called Iki-na Kutsurogi Tei. It roughly translates as ‘a place for sophisticated relaxation’. The idea is that laughter paired with the healing mineral waters of the onsen will revitalize mind and body alike. It is a joint project of the Rakugo Art Association and the Osaka-based Kamigata Rakugo Association. The same group came this past March, and we are thrilled to have them with us once more.
This time we will welcome two masters. From the East comes Sanyutei Yushiro, while the West will be represented by Shofukutei Shokyo.
Takimotokan Main Building, 4th Floor, Room Ideyu

Our very own Hokkai Ideyu Daiko will also perform on Saturday, November 16 beginning at 20:10. Please come and enjoy it with the rakugo!
Just in case you don’t believe how cold it is here, we are including a photo of our first snow on the fallen leaves. It may be cold outside, but we are sure you will warm up with plenty of laughter inside Dai-ichi Takimotokan!
