Walking Tour of Noboribetsu’s Jigokudani
The New Year is already well underway, and March has arrived. The temperatures here in Noboribetsu Onsen rise a little bit each day, and winter has settled into its final routine.
As such, these cold, bright days are perfect for taking a stroll through Jigokudani, the natural hot spring area just behind our hotel, Dai-ichi Takimotokan.
Inspired by the slow thaw underway and the brilliant Hokkaido sky overhead, we headed out. Jigokudani looks particularly spectacular in this season with its bright lines of color and rising steam.
When the weather is good, you can see such magnificent panoramic views of Jigokudani on the Jigokudani Walking Trail. When the weather is less good, you can still see something of a view, but we recommend taking it in from the warmth of our onsen baths and spa!
You will be able to see the geyser, Tessen Ike, at the end of the walking path pictured above. (It is currently closed to traffic, though.)
From the Jigokudani Parking Lot side of the street, it is possible to also visit Oyunuma and Kuttara Lake. Take advantage of the opportunity and go on out for a stroll!
