Onsen (hot springs) at Takimotokan are located in a separate building covering an area of 1,500 tsubo (approximately 4,950 square meters) and attract visitors with their abundant source water supply. The three spacious areas feature a variety of baths, allowing you to relax both your mind and body and enjoy a luxurious moment. The free flowing hot springs will heal your daily fatigue and provide you with a blissful experience.

Enjoy five types of naturally flowing hot spring water, including two springs sourced from Takimotokan in Noboribetsu.

At Takimotokan, you can enjoy five of Japan’s ten types of hot spring water. Experience the unique benefits of each type of water as it flows directly from the source, and enjoy a special moment of physical and mental refreshment. With abundant water volume and a variety of hot spring types, visitors can enjoy a luxurious time touring the hot springs within the facility and a blissful hot spring experience.

Preserving the tradition of Yumori (“bathkeepers”) spirit

We believe that “Water is life,” and our yumori (“bathkeepers”) strive to maintain all of The Grand Bath. With careful consideration and skill, they maintain the optimal temperature and cleanliness to provide a special healing experience. Yumori sharpen their five senses to discern changes in the source water and skillfully adjust the temperature to “hot”, “lukewarm”, and “just right”.

Kinzo no Yu, a source of kindness that carries on history

The small soaking pool in the corner of the open-air bath is a reproduction of the bathtub that the first-generation Kinzo TAKIMOTO prepared for his beloved wife, Sata. You can enjoy the warmth of history while enjoying 100% free flowing onsen water.

Half of Japan’s 10 types of hot spring water can be found here.

Choose from five different types of spring water according to your purpose and physical condition, and enjoy a blissful bathing experience. We will introduce the characteristics and benefits of each type of spring water in detail.

Sulphur Spring

This is a strongly acidic hot spring with a hydrogen ion concentration of 2.4. Due to its strong acidity, it has a powerful bactericidal effect against various bacteria, and the sulfur components it contains are effective for skin diseases. It often appears cloudy white due to hot spring flowers, and with its hot spring-like aroma and wide range of effects, it is one of the most popular hot springs and a representative source of Noboribetsu Onsen.

Salt Spring

Salt springs are often referred to as “heat baths” because they warm you up so well. The stimulation of the salt causes the skin to become congested, which activates blood circulation on the skin’s surface, so you won’t feel cold after bathing.

Ferrous Sulphate Spring

The distinctive smell is that of hydrogen sulfide contained in this hot spring. It has strong bactericidal properties against various bacteria, and the large amount of sulfur it contains is said to soften hardened skin and keratin, leaving the skin smooth.

Sodium Spring

Sodium spring is neutral hot spring, and because the main component, baking soda, emulsifies fat and creates smooth skin, they have been called “beauty bath” since ancient times. The red color is caused by the oxidation of iron contained in the water.

Alum Spring

Since ancient times, it has been used for bathing for “wounds” and “paralysis.” It contains a large amount of sodium ions and is said to be effective for high blood pressure, injuries, arteriosclerosis, and other conditions. It also activates intestinal function, making it effective for constipation, obesity, diabetes, gout, and other conditions. With a hydrogen ion concentration of 2.2, it is the most strongly acidic hot spring in our facility.
