Dai-ichi Takimotokan Fall Foliage Forecast

Around this time of year, guests returning from a hike, short or long, excitedly ask “Have you seen the autumn leaves?!?” Nestled at the foot of a series of rolling foothills and mountains, Noboribetsu is an ideal place for seeing the changing colors. From nearly any window or walk, it is possible to take in the view and see the trees up close as they turn.

However, to see this superb view while soaking in the onsen or, even better, the rotenburo (outdoor bath), is only possible at Dai-ichi Takimotokan!

The rough rock surface of Jigokudani (Hell Valley) as the steam from the natural hot springs rises up is a beautiful contrast to the trees. The photo above was taken on October 14th, and the combination of still green trees and just emerging color is stunning.

This photo was taken on October 12th last year just north of the same spot, and it is possible to see a small corner of Jigokudani on the right as it contrasts with the sea of color.

September was warmer than usual this year – many days were more than 20 degrees Celsius – so the color is a little bit later. Next week, though, it is likely to be at full intensity!

Please come to Dai-ichi Takimotokan to enjoy this glorious moment! Hell Valley and Rowan Square are less than ten minutes on foot from the hotel. When you round the bend, you can see the full view before you as you continue along the path. Then return here to enjoy some delicious food and soak in a warm bath as the colors continue to fill the sky.

We look forward to seeing you here!
